God’s Glory…a Hammerhead Shark

Steve and I had an amazing experience yesterday at Venice Pier on the beach. It’s the length of almost 3 football fields and has a slow gentle incline until you reach a wide fishing dock.

We ate our delicious lunch to celebrate our 4 week anniversary of our new home. The black clouds were swirling and the water turned from bright turquoise to a murky sea glass color. We decided to walk up that long pier that overlooked very deep almost troubling water.

It was kind of scary but kind of exhilarating. All of a sudden we saw two young men who were obviously experienced anglers. They gently but persistently reeled in fish from the depths of the dark and hidden waters.

People were patiently watching, not saying a word as these men walked slowly from end to end of the pier. It was almost a spiritual experience as I was afraid to watch what would happen when the fish neared its capture.

A hammerhead shark about 8 feet long surfaced and everyone cheered and looked over the railing. I quickly snapped off pictures but my heart stopped when it disappeared under the pier. The kind young man had snipped the line, freeing this magnificent creature of God!

Venice is unlike anyplace we have ever visited and we are so blessed to call it our home.

I hope that you will join me on my crusade for Social Injustice. Look for opportunities to help those in need and right the wrongs in our chaotic world of crisis around us.
