Segregation is Alive in the USA

It’s time to heal America

Has anyone ever had a such a crazy and painful week that you think you had a nightmare? At least you hope it was, and not truly real?

We flew from Sarasota last Saturday with our sweet pups, squished into the tinest of space, with a repositioning pilot that took his seat and half of mine!

The next day we packed up the last load of crap we really didn’t need into a Pacifica “cargo van.”We had received an offer on Hazel (our CO home) as we boarded the plane and the price was low.

The next day while we were running around crazed, the buyer wanted to come for another visit.

Our Estate Sale was starting a few days later and it was bittersweet to be saying goodbye to everything and Hazel

As the packing swirled around usi, we got a solid offer from the buyer two days later. I accepted and then he terminated it 20 hours later. WTF????

But at my age, you shrug it off as another bump in the road of LIFE. We finished our packing and storing and moved into a motel where we collapsed for 2 days, saying farewell to everyone we love in CO and watched the furniture and our life drain from Hazel.

We left Broomfield a couple of days ago, We started our 2,000 mile trip from Hazel through the Deep South.

Last night, just as we drove into Montgomery. Alabama, where the Civil Rights Movement exploded in 1961, I got another contract from the same buyer who evidently loves Hazel as much as we do.

I challenge YOU to speak out today when you see an injustice….small or big!

How amazing is it, that in the same exact place, where the Freedom Riders stood resolute, and Bloody Sunday took place, Hazel will now be given a new life with new owners.

It breaks my heart to know that so many black Americans were beaten and killed here in Montgomery, for just quietly wanting equal rights in our country only 65 years ago. K

The terrible thing is, that segregation is still going strong in America. I’ve seen it everywhere in our travels around northern Florida, and from Colorado, through Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky and Alabama, where I am sitting in the middle of the night, quietly crying.

We as a nation must stand up and speak out for those who are hurting, who have so much less, and look different than we do. That has been the very foundation of our country for over 250 years.
