Today’s Prompt: What’s a lesson you’ve learned recently that shifted your perspective?

Today’s prompt from my blog host, Word Press, asked the above question. A pretty good question to get my creative thoughts swirling.
Several things have happened that made me realize that I have been a “very willing doormat” all my life. I’ve been blessed with tremendous business opportunities and as a result I shared my good fortune with a lot of people. Family, friends and perfect strangers. I never expected to be repaid, I just assumed if they could, they would. If not, they needed it more than I did.
My heart has always been open to giving to people….cookies to the neighbors, used furniture to friends when I was moving for the millionth time, and money when someone was in need.
My grandma gave away the baked goods she made weekly to neighbors. My mom and dad were generous by opening their house with warm cozy meals and parties for everyone. Their giving ways became my way of life.
Even when I lived in public housing with my young baby boys. I shared my homemade food with an elderly Jewish couple that would run out with an umbrella when I came rushing in with my disabled little baby in my arms while holding tightly to my toddlers hand to keep him safe.
I recently realized that someone I protected for over half my life to, told my family and friends that I was crazy as we were divorcing which explained why I lost close friends and why my son wouldn’t let me be with my 6 & 8 year old grandkids unless I agreed to see a therapist during the divorce. My own sweet mom, told me to change the direction of my blog, because religion offends people and it would never be successful.
Over 4 million people now follow my blog and the theme has been consistent for 11 years, Faith, Charity, Fighting Injustice, and being a Disciple for God. It has encouraged people to live life fully. To take the chances that will save and/or improve your life. To forgive but not forget. To look for people in need, even those that don’t like you.
I started my blog with the name “The Lord of my Life “ changed it to “Embracing Love and Life” and last year to The Power of Changes.” Now I am announcing to my readers another exciting name change! This blog will now be called “The Search for Injustice.”
I am no longer a willing doormat. I refuse to be used or bullied or taken advantage of. Those people or businesses that attempt to do that will be dealt with fairly and professionally.
I have been a disciple of God all my life, and now I will focus my God-given talents and finances on becoming a better disciple. I AM A PROUD CHRISTIAN.
Steve and I will expand our missionary efforts across the country through our community outreach “Caring Hearts Worldwide, LLC.”
We will serve businesses and individuals who seek us out or who God places in our path. We have self funded this charity for years, but will be asking for donations of services or funds that we can in turn share with those in need in your communities.
Money will go into our charity, and go right back out to your charity choice plus we will match it. We will be the liaison between you and your community. We have raised almost $100,000 to date and it all went back into various charities.
We did not keep anything for overhead. We have been blessed all our lives, and now it is our privilege to serve those that need just a small hand up.
I hope you will help support our efforts by following this blog. Please subscribe to ThePowerofChanges.com.
The name change is coming soon so be sure and subscribe NOW!
Thanks for supporting this blog since April 2015. God isn’t finished with us yet. We still have a lot more work to do! 🙏
