The Battle of Evil and Goodness

This is to bring to light the story of pure evil and total goodness about two men that I have shared my life with for almost 50 years. I hope to release the pain and evil of the man that was ultimately destroyed, and caught in the middle of those two forces.

Jason and Adam Ryan

I hesitate posting this story as it dredges up a lot of hurt, but it also shows the resiliency and strength of a kind young man that I am honored to call my step son, Jason. He shares the same name as my son Jason and is 2 years younger, but couldn’t have had a more different life story.

Jason was denied by his father Will, my ex-husband from birth and I was never told about him until he was 17. After looking at his pictures for the first time, there was no need for a DNA test. He is a carbon copy of his dad.

I got involved and helped get him enrolled in Brehm Preparatory School in Carbondale who works with kids who are brilliant and talented but need someone to applaud their strengths and guide them with a few areas they struggle with. Brehm is a globally recognized school that is struggling to survive today with the current political environment that restricts young students from staying in the US for more than 4 years as well as dealing with the enormous cuts in education and social services we have all experienced through the US.

Jason’s life was forever changed by living at Brehm for several years, but so was mine. He touched a spot in my soul, a quiet gentle young man whose dad continued to deny him even at his death, leaving nothing to him or my son at all. We had divorced only months before, and Will never took the time to recognize either Jason before his death.

I have been Jason’s “Mama B” for 30 years, remembering his birthdays and at Christmas, as well as his son Adam. Jason expects nothing, always is very thankful, checks on us weekly to make sure we are doing fine. He recently commented that it didn’t really hurt him to get nothing when his dad died…..he never gave him anything while he was alive, so why would his death be any different?

Will’s sister, Susan Mojeske, kept all of his inheritance, a heartless cruel woman who had manipulated him from a young boy through his suicide, and tried to crush every relationship in his life….me for 34 years and Jason’s for his whole life.

Why is someone born with an evil soul, determined to make everyone’s life miserable and unworthy, and yet another is born with a hopeful resiliency, simply trying to survive?

It is God’s way of showing the power of Satan who can make one persin heartless and cruel, and then can show how Jesus can enter a young boys heart and make him pure and selfless.

That is the price we have paid since the Garden of Eden. A world of conflicting cruelty from many people and yet the joy and hope from others that battle that cruelty every moment of every day.
