Gypsy Caravan Adventures

We begin our Gypsy Caravan Adventures today, August 28, 2026.

We are on our second RV in two months. We’ve been told it takes three to get it right. It feels that way after having it in the RV service department the last 6 out of the 8 weeks we’ve owned it.

I’m learning that’s how it works with a new RV. All of our campground neighbors share the “Little Shop of RV Horror” stories. And yet we all love going on adventures, munching on corn nuts and jammin’ down on Spotify.

You never know what’s around the corner in one new town after another. The shocking thing is seeing the extreme poverty and unbelievable wealth right next to each other here in Florida, our new home state that we moved to 3 months ago.

I have never seen so many Europeans, Cubans, Haitians, Rednecks, and unbelievably rich Northeastern folks all in one big mixing pot called Florida.

It’s probably the most diverse state that I have ever lived in, and I feel there is something bubbling under the surface about to explode, but I can’t quite understand what it is right now. I certainly don’t understand why ICE agents were on undeveloped islands like Sanibel and Captiva yesterday.

The people here are extremely friendly and kind, much more so than we have experienced in some other places around the US. It is a major conservative state in many areas, but quite liberal where we live and some other parts of the state.

We will continue to share our Gypsy adventures and stories of the disparity that is prevalent in Florida and other parts of our country as we travel down the country roads along our way.
